    2. If you do not meet the above admission requirements, you can gain program entry by successfully completing the appropriate assessments and/or upgrading courses. Feedback on the Assessments will be provided to help you make informed decisions about appropriate selection of upgrading courses. For more details, please contact a NLC academic advisor.

    Admission Advice

    1. Admission to this program is competitive, so meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. 

    2. Students accepted into the program will have to supply documents certifying current immunizations, health exams and a current first aid certificate.

    3. Self-identified Canadian Aboriginal applicants who meet the admission requirements by the priority deadline will be given priority for 20% of the seats in the program.

    4. All students will be selected using the following criteria, and only the short-listed applicants will be invited to attend an interview:

    • the cumulative grade point average of the required English, Biology, Chemistry and Math courses (for example, a CGPA of 3.2 = 3.2 points) = up to 4 points 
    • completion of at least 30 credits at the post-secondary level (i.e. 1-year equivalency = 2 points, or prorate points for less than 30 credits) = up to 2 points
    • Completion of “Medical Laboratory Technology Career Investigation Report” = up to 6 points
    • Residing in BC or the Yukon = 1 point
    • Certified as a Medical Laboratory Assistant = 1 point

           Total possible points = 14

    • ABTC 060 - Computers and the Internet, OR ABTW 073 - Microcomputer Applications, or equivalent
    • ABTC 066 - Keyboarding II, or a keyboarding speed of at least 45 net words per minute
    • ABTC 070 - Word Processing I and ABTC 071 - Word Processing II, OR ABTW 043 - Word Processing/Document Production Levels I, II and III, or equivalent 
    • ABTC 080 - Business Math and Calculators, or equivalent
    • ABTC 085 - Business English, OR ABTE 074 - Business Communications 1, or equivalent

    Admission Advice

    1. If you have an Applied Business Technology, Office or Administrative Assistant certificate from another institution, you must submit transcripts with your application for potential admission exemptions.

    2. If you have current, relevant office experience in the last two years, you may contact the Mackenzie Campus to discuss potential admission exemptions.

    3. Applicants without an online certificate will need to complete ABTC 050 before entering or as part of the program.

    Admission Advice

    1. If English is not your first language, you must provide proof of English language proficiency (in addition to having English 12 or equivalent) through one of the following:

    • TOEFL (iBT = 88 overall, with no section below 20, taken within the last two years)
    • IELTS Academic (= 6.5 overall, with no band below 6.0, taken within the last two years)
    • successful completion of 6 credits of post-secondary first-year English at a recognized college or university in an English speaking country (within the last two years)

    2. The following may be required upon acceptance into the program:

    • up-to-date immunizations 
    • CPR Certificate level C or Health Care Provider (HCP) certification
    • Criminal Record Check

    3. Only selected qualified, short-listed applicants will be invited to attend an interview and complete the “Medical Radiography Technology Career Investigation” form.

    4. All students will be selected for admission using the following criteria:

    • the cumulative grade point average of the required English, Biology, Physics and Math courses (for example, a CGPA of 3.2 = 3.2 points) = up to 4 points
