Students Fall for the North! New for Fall 2019: photo contest, campus upgrades and exciting learning opportunities

Students across British Columbia are back on campus and in class for a brand new year of academics, trades training, professional programs and more. We have exciting new updates from the Study North BC institutions for current and future post-secondary students in northern BC.

New Coast Mountain College community fitness centre opens (Terrace campus)— New CMTN fitness centre now open to the public and students. The Northern Development Initiative Trust approved $250,000 to build the centre, which features cardio machines, free weights, an open workout zone and a separate room for group activities. Dive into Coastal Ecology at CMTN College— The Applied Coastal Ecology program at Coast Mountain College’s Prince Rupert campus provides students hands-on experience and knowledge to transition into careers in coastal resources management, ecosystem restoration, environmental monitoring and many others. NEW! UNBC students can complete their full engineering degree in the North— A wealth of opportunities for new graduates of tech programs at UNBC and CNC. Prince George was granted hundreds of tech-related seats in engineering, providing employment opportunities for new graduates in the area. Learn more about the future of engineering at UNBC here. 

NEW! Northern Lights College introduces new trades and health studies programs— NLC has launched a new Piping Trades Foundation Training Program at their Dawson Creek campus, which includes foundational technical training required to enter into the trades of Plumber and Steamfitter/Pipefitter. The new Associate of Arts in Health Studies Degree at NLC prepares students for entry into health-related degree programs. The associate degree can be transferred to most post-secondary institutions in BC. Learn about the Associate of Arts in Health Studies Program.
